// Volunteer
The Georgian Bay Land Trust is driven by the passion and commitment of hundreds of volunteers who share their time and talents to help protect Georgian Bay. If you’re passionate about protecting this wild place and want to make a difference, we could use your help.
Our most popular volunteer role is our property stewards, but we also need people to help with fundraising, administration, communications, or organizing special events like the Bayscapes Auction.
The Georgian Bay Land Trust’s Board of Directors and various committees are all volunteer-led, and often in need of new members who want to share their love for the Bay.

BECOME A GEORGIAN BAY LAND TRUST STEWARD
Stewards are volunteers who “adopt” one or more Georgian Bay Land Trust properties to visit and report on. If you’d like to be out on Georgian Bay and help care for one of our conservation properties, we’d love to have you join the team!
As a steward, you’ll be responsible for visiting your property at least once a year to keep things in order and report on anything unusual. A sample visit might consist of making sure the Land Trust signs are in good shape, doing a general inspection, noting wildlife sightings, and cleaning up any garbage.
Stewards note if anyone has been camping or had a fire and complete a basic inspection form for each visit. On certain properties, stewards may report on sensitive areas that need special attention, such as nesting or spawning grounds. Stewards may also assist with hands-on stewardship tasks, including invasive species removal, garbage pickup, or sign maintenance.
Stewards often help draft plans to monitor a property’s ongoing ecological health and help identify conservation priorities. They are also key points of information to help communicate the property plans to visitors and members of the local communities.

Please note that you must provide your own transportation to your property, and most Georgian Bay Land Trust properties are boat-access only.
