// Species That Live Here
Georgian Bay is home to over 2,000 native plant and animal species, including 50 species at risk.
The area’s unique environment and unfragmented habitat mean that it serves as a critical refuge for many species that are struggling to survive elsewhere. Our goal is to preserve and protect habitat for all species in and on the Bay, especially those species that have been designated at-risk.
Species at Risk in Eastern Georgian Bay
This list includes species that are designated as Special Concern, Threatened, or Endangered at the federal and/or provincial level. If you observe an at-risk species on a Georgian Bay Land Trust property, we encourage you to report your sighting on iNaturalist.
