Property Info

Ingersoll Island is located just off the eastern shore of its larger neighbour Sandy Island, which is also protected by the Georgian Bay Land Trust. The two islands are connected both by proximity and by their shared, locally uncommon vegetation communities. Located just west of Wasauksing First Nation and at the north end of Sans Souci, Sandy and Ingersoll are unique in the area for providing habitat for a number of vegetation communities and species with more southern affinities. The shores of Ingersoll, Sandy and many of the islands immediately adjacent have been identified as a provincially significant wetland. Ingersoll’s varied and significant communities provide for extensive high quality habitat for many fauna species, including several species known to be at risk in the region. Thank you to sisters Polly Naughton and Mary Nelson for choosing to conserve this special island.
