Property Info

Norgate Inlet lies south of Britt and Byng Inlet, and north of the community of Bayfield. The Crown land throughout this area is part of the Northern Georgian Bay Shoreline and Islands Conservation Reserve.

The Hamilton property is a beautiful small island located along the western fringe of the Norgate natural area. Judging by its growth regeneration, it is suspected that the western end of the island underwent a burn at some point in the last ten to twenty years. The island supports several vegetation communities, including a shrubbed rock barren and several small Georgian Bay Coastal Mineral Meadow Marshes with a diversity of wetland plants. The combination of these two communities provides ideal habitat for two species at risk: Eastern Foxsnake and Eastern Massasauga rattlesnake.
