Bishop Strachan School
298 Lonsdale Road, Toronto
6 pm cocktail reception | 7 pm book launch
Join us on March 29th for the launch of Georgian Bay: A Unique North American Ecosystem. This new book explores everything that makes Georgian Bay the unique and fascinating region it is today, and unifies the extraordinary history and ecology of Georgian Bay in a single volume.
Winterlude will feature short presentations by several of the book’s authors to provide an introduction to the book. Presentations will include:
Jamie Hunter (historian) – Georgian Bay’s forests, and their role in the area’s development
Peter Storck (archaeologist) – The early peopling of Georgian Bay during the last ice age
Nick Eyles (geologist) – The world renowned geology of the Georgian Bay coast
The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6pm, followed by presentations beginning at 7. Guests will have the opportunity to meet the book’s authors and purchase signed copies of the book before and after the presentations.
Winterlude will also feature an update on our work to increase landowner awareness of conservation options, funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. This is part of our ongoing work to scientifically identify and prioritize ecologically sensitive land for conservation on Georgian Bay.
