Learn how to distinguish between native and invasive phragmites, and discover the best techniques to remove them from your property while helping us protect the ecology of Sandy and Ingersoll Islands.
- Garden pruners, snippers, or shears suitable for cutting 1/2″ stems
- Gardening gloves
- Water shoes or old footwear (we will be up to our knees in water)
- A hat, sunscreen, and bug repellant
- A snack and drinking water
We’ll meet on the eastern extremity of Ingersoll Island (see map). GPS waypoints are easting 558923, northing 5014065. Small boats can be beached on the island. Larger boats can anchor offshore – we’ll have a ferry to assist you to shore.
