The changing face of the bay
The changing face of the bay
Georgian Bay faces unprecedented pressure on all of its natural resources. With one of North America's largest urban centres an hour and a half away, more and more people are searching for escape from the city and suburbs.
Not only are they making day trips or staying overnight, they are also looking to build on properties that were previously in their natural state. Golf courses, condominiums, severance of lots for development, all of these put a strain on the resources of the bay you love.
With the population of Ontario slated to increase by 3.7 million people in the next few two decades, the strain is only going to increase and accelerate. The GBLT is working now to make sure that there is land that remains available and untarnished to nurture the ecosystem of our unique archipelago for future generations.
