Property Info

This easement property protects a small island in the Sans Souci community. The island is predominantly open bedrock with small, scattered patches of vegetation including a variety of shrub and herbaceous species. Stunted Eastern White Cedars are present but in small numbers. Occasional pockets of moist areas, support small collections of wetland species, including Round-leaved Sundew, one of the few carnivorous plants native to eastern Georgian Bay. During low water conditions, this island is connected to the adjacent island to the north by an exposed meadow marsh community that supports a diversity of typical coastal meadow marsh species.
