"Our Georgian Bay islands are precious to the Grant family and as a First Founder of the Trust and more recently Chair of the Nature Conservancy of Canada, the Georgian Bay Land Trust is protecting an irreplaceable resource - our land and water. There is no other cause that has so much meaning as this today."

-- Jon Grant

The Georgian Bay Coast Project
From 2001-2005 the Georgian Bay Land Trust was a partner in a regional inventory and analysis of the eastern coast of Georgian Bay led by the Nature Conservancy of Canada in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources. The project included two years of inventory of the new conservation reserves and park additions under the Ontario Living Legacy Program as well as inventories of intervening public lands and private lands of interest. Several years of research were also completed to analyse the findings and incorporate other information already collected from previous studies. The Georgian Bay Land Trust was a key partner in this effort, helping to provide logistical assistance to the field team and valuable information on the various natural areas of interest to the project. One of it's authors, Wendy Cooper, is now the Executive Director of the GBLT. To learn more about the project and it's findings, please visit the Nature Conservancy of Canada website
