"This land has been in my family since 1906 after my uncle surveyed it. Because my sons and I don't get up to the Bay much anymore we decided to donate to the Conservancy. In this way we knew it would be preserved in it's natural state and never developed. It is there for other Bay lovers to enjoy."
Developing plans
Depending on the property your are stewarding, you may be asked to help in drafting plans specific to that property's ongoing ecological health.
Since you're one of the people literally 'on the ground', you may be asked what you feel are priorities for the property, or if you think certain conservation targets are realistic or reasonable.
Of course your input is necessary on drawing up the scheduling of the Stewards for the property as well as things like frequency of reporting and advice on what aspects of your unique property might need special attention or focus.
One of the most important aspects of the process is helping communicate the property plans to visitors and members of the local communities.
The Georgian Bay Land Trust seeks to preserve the unique archipelago and the adjacent water bodies which lie along the eastern shore and North Channel of Georgian Bay that are of ecological, geological and historical importance, and to promote the appreciation of this special area.
