Jean Labrecque is a non-profit consultant in the accounting field. Having worked for not-for-profits almost exclusively she has extensive experience with accounting as well as charity guidelines. Jean lives in Port Credit with her husband Paul and enjoys the small town feeling of the Port. Any free time they have is spent at the cottage in Georgian Bay.
Mark Carabetta - Executive Director
Mark joined the GBLT in November 2011. He has over 17 years of experience with the conservation community in both the United States and Canada. His career includes working as an Ecologist and Director of Conservation Science at the Connecticut chapter of The Nature Conservancy and for the past five years, he has worked as the Conservation Science Manager for Ontario Nature. Mark has a M.A. in Botany, from Connecticut College, New London, Connecticut.
Mark also currently serves as a Governor on the Ontario Land Trust Alliance Board, leading the Board Development committee and has volunteered with a variety of conservation organizations including the Field Botanists of Ontario. He has a profound love of nature and the outdoors and has enjoyed hiking and camping with his family along the eastern and western shores of Georgian Bay.
Brooks Greer - Land Protection Program Manager
Brooks Greer came to the GBLT in November of 2009 from previous positions in customer service and quality system compliance. He is admittedly a Muskoka child, but made a spiritual conversion to Georgian Bay after being shipped off to Camp Hurontario in the 70s. A dilettante birder and naturalist, Brooks is really enjoying the time spent on Georgian Bay – and at other people's cottages.
Janet Lougheed - Director of Development
Janet has been the Director of Development with the Georgian Bay Land Trust for 5 years. She has been in fundraising for 15 years including 8 years also with the MacLaren Art Center. Janet has been involved with numerous charitable organizations as both a volunteer and employee, including United Way, the May Court Club, Gilda's Club, the YMCA and the MacLaren Art Centre.
Laura Gibson - Communications-Development Administrator
Laura Gibson joined the Georgian Bay Land Trust in March 2011. She comes to the GBLT with a solid foundation of experience working in the non-profit field. Most recently, Laura worked for the Bata Shoe Museum. Her experience in cultural management has focused on public engagement and education, volunteer management, fundraising and development. Laura has a Masters in Museum Studies from the University of Leicester and an undergraduate degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology and Humanities from McGill University. The role of CDA connects Laura’s love for the Bay with her passion for promoting access and enjoyment to ecologically, historically and culturally significant places.
